RM 008 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph

A split-seconds chronograph asks a movement to run two chronograph hands independently, so an interval can be read inside another interval. Adding that to a tourbillon, in a skeletonised baseplate, is one of the hardest things a modern manufacture attempts.

The RM 008 does it and then adds instrumentation: a function selector in the crown, a torque indicator to show how hard the mainspring is pulling, and a power-reserve display. Nothing is inferred; everything is shown.

The layout is the reason people fall for this reference. The tourbillon sits at six, the rattrapante column wheel and its isolator are visible, and the pushers are integrated into the tonneau flank so the silhouette stays clean.

Case materials across the RM 008 run from titanium to platinum to composite, and each version changes the character of the watch entirely — but the mechanical statement is constant.
